What We Review
We review City and County of Honolulu escheated-check records and may also check the State of Hawaii Unclaimed Property database for additional funds. These are two separate public databases β a person or business may appear in one, both, or neither.

Founder, Hawaii Unclaimed Funds Recovery
James Hyde started Hawaii Unclaimed Funds Recovery after recognizing that many Hawaii residents and businesses may have money sitting in public records without knowing it is there.
Before starting this work, James attended Kapiʻolani Community College for culinary arts and built a career in hospitality and food service. He worked as a chef at places including Sheraton Waikiki, Bloomingdale's, and Waikiki Market. That background taught him the importance of organization, follow-through, attention to detail, and taking care of people behind the scenes.
After James and his partner welcomed their son, who needs extra care and support, James began looking for meaningful work he could build from home while staying available for his family. During that search, he saw an opportunity to help people identify and recover funds they may not realize are owed to them.
Hawaii Unclaimed Funds Recovery was created to provide a transparent, respectful service for people and businesses listed in public escheated-check and unclaimed-property records. The goal is simple: help rightful payees understand what was found, verify the record for themselves, and decide whether they want assistance with the recovery process.
James believes every person should be able to verify records independently. Hawaii Unclaimed Funds Recovery is a private recovery assistance service, not a government agency, and anyone may pursue claims directly through the appropriate government office at no cost.
